Steps to Becoming a Teacher

Welcome to the University of North Carolina Asheville Teacher Education guide. UNC Asheville has an established tradition of excellence in education and our teachers enter the classroom with a unique combination of a comprehensive liberal arts background, completion of a major field of study coupled with teacher licensure giving them the tools to be stronger, more effective teachers. Through the UNC Asheville teacher licensure program you will have the opportunity to pursue the subject you love while attaining a license to teach it. In four years you can graduate with both a bachelor’s degree in a specific subject and a teaching license, making you marketable in two areas.

If you are a returning student, the UNC Asheville Department of Education offers you access to the same highly regarded teacher licensure program in a personalized educational environment setting based on you previous experience.
